Schmidt + Haensch + ISIS

In 1951 Schmidt+Haensch acquired the rights to produce and distribute ISIS drafting machines from Dr.Graf GmbH, Gotha. This new branch represents a consequent continuation of the already established profile: The production of high precision devices.
Special tools and special equipment has been developped in the company owned workshops so that ISIS drafting machines can be produced in series. The development and production of drafting machines with a high precision including digitizers will remain among the goals of Schmidt+Haensch.

Dr. Graf was aware that entrepreneurial opportunities were coming to an end in what was at that time the Soviet-occupied zone and wanted to see his life's work placed in good hands. ISIS soon needed more than "an invalid" to cope with the flood of orders for precision drafting machines. Strong expansion in turnover led to a distinct shift in emphasis within the company towards drafting instruments. In addition to this, special machines and devices were developed in the company's own tool-making shop especially for the series production of ISIS drafting machines.

High-class innovations are the basics of the Schmidt+Haensch tradition: This is the guiding line which the family owned Schmidt+Haensch  is following since 1864.
Already in its very beginnings, the company was specialized in optical measuring techniques.

The development of fast processors in the drafting sector has led to radical changes. Following Schmidt + Haensch´s introduction of the first coordinate measuring machine, based on the principle of a drafting machine as early as the 60´s, ISIS is now able to include drafting machine with eletronic displays, as well as CAD and CAD-peripherals in the product range. Here, too, the company succeeded in extending the field of application of drafting technology and the devlopment of input devices (digitizers), not only for CAD, but also for direct input into CNC-controlled tooling machines, while retaining the company`s valued precision.

Proximity to the customer, high quality advisory service and production of measuring devices of highest precision and reliabilty form the credo of the enterprise. A formula which works out. Schmidt + Haensch is on the market for five generations now and has been managed with remaining succes by the family associate Mathis Kuchejda for the past 20 years.
But the reason for the exceptional quality and durability of the ISIS drafting machine and drawing stands lies last but not least in the precision mechanics of optical measuring technology.
